Amazon has introduced a new short-form video feature on Twitch as a potential replacement for TikTok in the United States

With TikTok’s future in the US uncertain, several tech firms are seeking alternatives to fill the gap left by the popular short video platform. Amazon, for instance, is turning to Twitch’s new Discovery Feed feature as a potential replacement for TikTok.

In India, and potentially in the US, there’s a looming ban on TikTok, prompting various players in the tech industry to prepare for the platform’s absence. Among them is Amazon.com’s live streaming platform Twitch, which has introduced its own short-form video feature called Discovery Feed. This service enables users to explore condensed clips from lengthier live streams, accessible via a new tab on Twitch’s mobile application.

Twitch, known primarily for its gaming streams and interactive material, is venturing into short-form video content with Discovery Feed.In contrast to TikTok, where users create and upload their own brief videos, Twitch depends on its community to select captivating moments from live streams, transforming them into clips that can be shared.

Discovery Feed’s introduction coincides with a series of legal changes that cast uncertainty on TikTok’s future in the United States. Owned by ByteDance Ltd. of China, TikTok is under congressional and Biden Administration scrutiny, urging it to sell its US operations or face a potential ban due to national security concerns.
