On Thursday, Elon Musk emphasized the importance of adhering to a country’s regulations, stating that failure to do so could result in his X platform being restricted. This came after a critique from an Indian user who had her account temporarily locked by Musk for a post.

Anu Bishnoi (@Anitabishnoi09) shared that her account was temporarily locked for an hour, stating that she had to remove the original post in order to regain access to her account.

She pointed out what she sees as a contradiction in Elon Musk’s stance on free expression. While advocating for free speech, Musk’s actions, she argued, seemed to compel individuals to delete their posts, showcasing what she perceives as hypocrisy.

In response, the owner of X stated that they abide by court orders, especially if they seem to align with a country’s laws, even if they personally disagree with those laws. Musk emphasized that they only challenge court orders that seem to contravene a country’s legal framework, citing Brazil as an example where they have contested such orders.

Additionally, Musk underscored the importance of respecting a country’s laws, highlighting that failure to do so could result in their platform being blocked.
