Why did Netanyahu’s government decide to stop Al Jazeera from working in Israel during the fighting in Gaza

After the meeting with the cabinet, Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi officially signed the orders that stopped the Qatar-owned news channel from operating in Israel.

On a social media platform called X, Karhi said in a video, “If anyone tries to cause trouble against Israel, they won’t be allowed to broadcast from here anymore, and we’ll take away their equipment.”

This big decision was made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government while the war in Gaza is happening.

On the same social media platform X, Netanyahu talked about the decision made by his government. But he didn’t give many details about what would happen to Al Jazeera, when it would happen, or if the ban would be forever or just for a while.

“The government, led by me, all agreed: Al Jazeera, the channel that causes trouble, won’t be allowed in Israel anymore. Thanks to Minister @shlomo_karhi,” wrote the Israeli Prime Minister on X.
