The Uttar Pradesh government has collaborated with the agricultural sector to support agritech startups and integrate AI into farming practices, aiming to strengthen the rural economy and encourage ‘smart farming’ techniques.

According to Business Standard, the government is also organizing a global farmers’ summit named ‘Krishi Bharat’ in November 2024, in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Scheduled to be held in Lucknow, the summit will witness the participation of farmers and agricultural experts from several countries including the US, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Poland, France, Spain, Indonesia, and Kenya.

Tarun Sawhney, chairman of CII Krishi Bharat 2024 and vice-chairman & managing director of Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd., stated, “The farm summit will involve various agri-startups, international companies, and global venture capitalists seeking investment opportunities in the domestic agricultural value chain.”

Despite Uttar Pradesh being a major agricultural producer in the country, it faces challenges such as low crop yield and insufficient food processing capacities, which ultimately impact farm incomes negatively.
