The Southwest Monsoon has progressed into more areas of the central Arabian Sea, southern Maharashtra, Telangana, and parts of southern Chhattisgarh and southern Odisha, along with additional regions of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department stated on Saturday that conditions are favorable for the monsoon to advance further into the rest of the central Arabian Sea, and additional parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, and Telangana within the next 2-3 days.
Significant rainfall is anticipated across Maharashtra and Coastal as well as North Interior Karnataka in the upcoming five days. Maharashtra could experience isolated extremely heavy rainfall from June 8 to 11, while Karnataka might face similar conditions on June 8 and 9.
In the next five days, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, and Lakshadweep are expected to receive widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph. Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may experience isolated light to moderate rainfall during this period.
Additionally, due to a cyclonic circulation over central Assam and neighboring areas, coupled with strong southwesterly/southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim are likely to witness widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 30-40 kmph over the next seven days.
