Recently, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, addressed inquiries on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the latest voice functionality of ChatGPT-4o. Some individuals have expressed dissatisfaction, noting that it continues to operate similarly to the previous ChatGPT-4 version, despite the anticipated upgrade being accessible for a week.
A user on the official OpenAI website expressed frustration with their experience using ChatGPT 4o. Despite seeing the option to select ChatGPT 4o in both their iOS app and browser, they found that the voice feature defaulted to the standard ChatGPT 4 voice, and the text interactions remained unchanged. They voiced confidence that these issues would be resolved but found it frustrating to have access to a feature that didn’t function as expected.
Many users encountered messages such as “ChatGPT error” or “Apologies, I’m currently experiencing difficulties. Our systems are under heavy load. Please attempt again later.”
In response to the growing number of complaints, CEO Altman addressed the issue online, clarifying that the anticipated new voice mode has not been released yet, despite the text mode of GPT-4o being available. He explained that the current option in the app is the old version, emphasizing that the upcoming new version will be highly worthwhile despite the wait.
