Lalu Prasad’s younger daughter, Rohini Acharya, a medical graduate, is contesting her first election as a candidate for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the ongoing parliamentary elections in Saran, Bihar. According to the self-declared affidavits submitted to the Election Commission of India and analyzed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the Bihar Election Watch (BEW), Rohini owns assets worth ₹36 crore, making her the wealthiest among the 80 candidates vying for seats in Bihar’s five constituencies that are set for voting in the fifth phase on May 20.

According to a report by the ADR and BEW released on Sunday, Ajay Nishad, representing the Congress party in Muzaffarpur, holds the second position in terms of wealth among candidates, with assets totaling ₹29 crore. Following him is Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary from the BJP, who ranks third with assets valued at ₹16 crore.

Nishad, who has been elected twice as Member of Parliament from Muzaffarpur, won both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections under the BJP’s banner. His father, Jai Narain Prasad Nishad, held the position of Member of Parliament five times and served as a union minister.

Rohini’s assets consist of ₹25.76 crore in property and ₹10.85 crore in movable assets. She also has liabilities amounting to ₹1 crore, while Dr. Choudhary has liabilities worth ₹5 crore.
