Lucknow Super Giants’ fast bowler Mayank Yadav, a promising candidate reportedly being considered by selectors for the upcoming Australia tour, has been ruled out of further participation in IPL 2024. This decision was communicated by LSG coach Justin Langer, citing a grade 1 tear (side strain) that has rendered Mayank’s involvement in the 17th edition of the tournament highly unlikely.

Langer expressed the team’s hopeful outlook, mentioning their prayers for the 21-year-old Delhi pacer’s recovery. However, he also acknowledged the realistic scenario, indicating that it’s improbable for the young bowler to make a comeback for LSG, especially towards the latter stages of this year’s IPL.

Mayank, known for his impressive bowling speed of 155 km/h, made a striking impression in four IPL matches, claiming seven wickets. However, his significance heightened as he had to exit prematurely in two games without completing his full quota of overs.

The fast bowler encountered his initial injury against Gujarat Titans, departing the field due to a side strain after bowling just one over. Following a four-week rehabilitation period, he returned for the match against Mumbai Indians but suffered another setback after bowling 3.1 overs. This recurrence prompted sharp criticism from Brett Lee, a former teammate of Langer.
