One student, Brook Gura, had signed a contract with Tesla for a recruiting internship but had her offer revoked less than three weeks before she was supposed to start. Despite the disappointment, she’s trying to stay positive and learn from the experience.

It’s unfortunate when internship opportunities get affected by organizational changes, especially after students have invested time and effort in securing them. Tesla’s decision to cancel internships amid layoffs reflects the challenges faced by many companies during restructuring periods. Hopefully, Brook Gura’s positive outlook will serve her well in her future endeavors.

Brook Gura, a 21-year-old student at the University of Texas at Austin, had secured an internship offer with Tesla as a recruiting intern in the company’s human resources department. Unfortunately, her wish to work at Tesla did not come true, as the automaker revoked her offer less than three weeks before she was supposed to start. This disappointing turn of events highlights the challenges faced by students during internship recruitment processes.

Brook Gura spent approximately three weeks interviewing with Tesla earlier this year before finally signing a contract with the company on February 29. She expressed excitement about the opportunity, especially since she was seeking a big corporate internship close to her location, which would eliminate the need for relocation.

Having turned down internship offers from other companies, Brook eagerly anticipated working at Tesla. The compensation of $26 per hour added to her enthusiasm. Her internship was scheduled to last for 12 weeks, starting on May 20. She was informed that she would receive further details about picking up a company laptop during the first week of May. Unfortunately, her offer was later revoked, leaving her disappointed and facing unexpected changes in her summer plans.

It’s unfortunate when such situations occur, especially after investing time and effort in securing an internship. I hope Brook Gura finds other opportunities to learn and grow in her field.
