A Mumbai-based startup, Mythik, founded by ex-Housing.com and Freecharge leader Jason Kothari, has successfully raised $15 million (around INR 128.4 crore) in its initial funding round, as reported recently. This innovative company is using artificial intelligence to transform traditional Indian mythology, history, and folk tales into engaging modern content.
High-Profile Investors Back the Vision
The seed funding attracted a range of prominent investors, including Sakal Media Group, BITKRAFT, VC Grid, Viscera Capital, Shah Rukh Khan’s family office, and the Patni family office. Their support underscores the confidence in Mythik’s potential to revolutionize the entertainment landscape.
Blending Technology with Tradition
Started just last month, Mythik focuses on producing short, high-quality videos—each spanning 10 to 12 minutes—that bring ancient Indian stories to life. Some of their early works include titles like Ram vs Ravan: The Epic Clash, The Tale of Shakuni, and Women of the Ramayan. By harnessing AI, Mythik aims to make these cultural narratives accessible and appealing to a global audience.
Plans for Growth
With this new funding, Mythik intends to expand its content offerings and enhance its technological capabilities. The company is set to create more immersive experiences, bridging the gap between India’s rich heritage and modern storytelling techniques.
